No More Lonely Weekends: Tips to Meeting Singles in College

Lets face it, college is not just about getting a degree that will bring you success in your future career, it is also about finding your independence, living on your own and of course, dating. There are many ways that college students can meet other singles on their campus who they will have things in common with, but for those who are just starting their college education, they may need some help with finding the places to meet other single college students so here is a little help.

Go to frat parties. This is a great way to meet other singles in your campus who just want to have some fun during their college experience. These are likely not the type of singles that are looking for a long-term relationship so if that is what you are looking for then a frat party is not the place for you, but if you just want to have a good time and meet someone to go on a date or two with, then this place may be perfect.

Study groups are a surprisingly efficient way to meet other college singles who have the same interests as you. When you are in a study group, the others who are in the group are usually in the same major program and have many of the same interests, making them almost perfect for each other.

Common area functions are usually held in dormitories every weekend and some on weeknights. This is a controlled environment where the function is put on by the resident advisor or the school to help students meet on another in a fun atmosphere where they hold theme parties or movie nights that are typically alcohol free. This is the place where it is not usually a meat market, instead, it is usually college students who are looking for someone that they have a lot in common with and would like a long-term relationship.

The library is not the place where most people think they will meet someone but believe it or not, many couples have actually met over a book in the library at their college campus.

Sporting events and pep rallies are another place that is very popular for the single population at most colleges. In fact, many colleges are offering singles areas in their sporting venues so that when you go to the event, you will not feel uncomfortable going alone since you will be sitting in an entire area full of other singles at your school.

Classes are also a place where you can meet other singles on campus, especially classes like science that requires lab partners and working as a team. This provides the students with the ability to work as a team with other students, in these cases, the team gets to know each other in a close setting which can lead to romance between team members.

Everybody needs to eat when they are at their campus so when you go into your cafeteria and see someone sitting alone, don’t be afraid to go up and talk to them and ask if you can join them. You would be surprised at how many successful relationships start out by asking “Is anyone sitting here.”

More and more dormitories are now going toward the co-ed format where the guys and girls share the residency of one building. While the rooms are not shared by guys and girls combined, the dorm itself is an excellent place to meet other singles and spark up a new relationship.

Social networking sites also provide a listing of students who go to your college, while this is a less personal way to meet other singles on your college campus, it is an effective way to meet others.

The final way to meet singles on your college campus is possibly the common way. Just go up to someone who you find attractive and strike up a conversation. This can be done anywhere, anytime, it does not matter what you are doing at the time you can just start talking to them and see where the relationship goes from there.
